VISION DIVERSITÉ presents Des Andes à l'Euphrate | Sortie de résidence @leministère
From the Andes to the Euphrates
Two leading artists from Montréal’s music scene meet at the crossroads of their roots. With From the Andes to the Euphrates, singer and multi-instrumentalist Nadine Altounji (oud, guitar) revisits her compositions—shaped by influences from the Levant, Latin America, and Montréal—in intimate, vibrant arrangements created as a duo with guitarist and composer Cécile Doo-Kingué.
During a creation residency in Gaspé—made possible with the support of CCDG and Vision Diversité—and following a tour that will take them from Gaspé to Montréal, via Petite-Vallée, Rimouski, and Lévis, they will craft new versions of Nadine Altounji’s repertoire—written and performed by her—usually presented with a full ensemble. The goal is to give it renewed acoustic strength, centered on the voice and the dialogue between strings. They will also create several new works, nourished by their shared sensibilities and plural heritages: Levantine maqâm, folk, blues, and afro-diasporic echoes—an immersive sonic journey where borders dissolve. For this occasion, the venue will be arranged in a very intimate format, with reduced capacity.
This show will be presented to a seated audience.
Audience configuration is subject to change without notice.
Please note that Le Ministère does not accept cash. We accept credit and debit cards only. All ticket purchases are made online, including at the door on the day of the show

Zayt el Oud - Nadine Altounji at Casa del Popolo
Nadine Altounji, a Montrealer of Syrian origin, takes us on a captivating musical journey, blending Afro-Peruvian and Syrian influences. Through her EPs *The Stories that Tie Us to Trees Vol.1* and *Enracinées dans l’Histoire Vol.2*, she merges her oud and guitar with the darbouka, cajón, as well as folk and pop nuances.
The title of her show and latest single, *Zayt el oud*, means "the oil of the oud." This metaphor symbolizes the music extracted from her oud, like olive oil, and pays homage to her Levantine roots.
